We encourage applications from those marginalized on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and/or disability who are 18 years of age or older. Applicants are eligible to receive one grant per calendar year- if you win, we ask that you wait until next year to apply again. Applicants will be put into a pool and selected randomly according to our application and selection schedule.
NEXT GRANT WINDOW- Applications open July 25th - Aug 8th 2026, with applicants selected and grants disbursed the following week.
Our mission to create safe spaces in Magic: the Gathering starts by welcoming people of all genders and identities to our tables. As a revolving collective of players and creators, we strive to highlight marginalized voices and content in our community. Grant recipients will be offered the opportunity to network with BOP! online or in person at a convention, collaborate on content, or get involved with us if they wish, but these are not required to receive the grant.
Our goal is to get as much money into our community as possible. With that in mind, we will open our grant applications at set times throughout the year for a short period. At the beginning of each grant window, we will evaluate our funds raised and announce the amount of grants we are able to give away. Please check back during the grant application window for more information!
Grants are NOT limited to content creators or internet personalities, nor are they reserved for the most visible applicant or selected on merit. BOP! strives to broaden horizons and bring communities together.
Birds of Paradise! (501(c)(3)) aims to support the inclusion of Magic enthusiasts who belong to marginalized groups by providing assistance to attend Magic: the Gathering events, organize their own events, engage in tournaments, create art, or otherwise build up marginalized voices in our space. These grants are intended as professional development— skillbuilding, networking access, investments in your organizing, convention attendance, content creating, artistic or competitive MTG adventures. These grants are not intended for rent or grocery assistance. Finally, we will need to collect tax reporting information from you depending on the size of the grant and your country of residence.
